To qualify for one you have to meet strict income<a title="guidelines" href="http://avenue-s.info/files/underwritting_guidelines_71-40179_1_.pdf" target="_blank"> guidelines</a>, same guidelines which should have been used in your loan origination. Determine your <a title="dti" href="http://avenue-s.info/files/underwritting_guidelines_71-40179_1_.pdf" target="_blank">DTI</a> (debt to income ratio) using your IRS Form 1040 or <a title="4506-T" href="http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf" target="_blank">4506-T.</a> Do the same using the income  stated in your Uniform Residential Application Form (<a title="1003" href="https://www.efanniemae.com/sf/formsdocs/forms/1003.jsp" target="_blank">1003</a>) then compare. They should be the same. If there is a difference then you are a victim of<a title="mortgage fraud" href="http://www.freddiemac.com/singlefamily/news/newsletter/2007/07/fraud.html" target="_blank"> false stated income loan fraud.</a></p>

Any violations (FRAUD), means the lender must buy back the loan. Your next course of action depend on how the bank rectifies your situation.</p>
